The latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip with a claim from France emerging on mooted interest in Lyon star Malick Fofana.

Manchester United reportedly failed in their attempts to sign another high-profile forward before the summer transfer window closed.
United made five new additions to their squad this summer; namely Diego Leon, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens – who all headed to Old Trafford. Lammens was the club’s final signing of the window, with his deal being confirmed on deadline day.
It was not merely just incomings which saw United have a busy transfer window – with several players leaving the club. In terms of forwards, United sanctioned the exits of Marcus Rashford, Antony, Rasmus Hojlund, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho before last week’s deadline.
A report from Foot Mercato in France has claimed that Garnacho’s exit in particular saw United enter the market for a new forward. It has been claimed that the Reds made an attempt to try and sign Lyon star Malick Fofana to replace Garnacho on the left wing, while also reacting to the injury to Cunha before the deadline.
However, the report claims that United never received a green light from Fofana’s representatives for a swoop to take place. This was despite the 20-year-old apparently been keen on joining United if any deal could be struck-up between the two clubs.
United already made significant changes to their forward line this summer with the arrivals of Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko. It remains to be seen if the interest in Fofana was genuine, and if so, whether or not a proposed move could be revisited during the January window.
Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Everton were all credited with an interest in signing Fofana – while the summer transfer window was open.
