From Wednesday, September 24 to Sunday, October 5, visitors will have the rare opportunity to step aboard the Galeón Andalucía, a full-size, historically accurate replica of a 17th-century Spanish galleon, which will be stationed at Canning Dock.
The ship will be open daily as a ‘floating museum’ from 10am-8pm for visitors to immerse themselves in centuries of maritime history.
Five decks will be open with exhibitions and displays.
The Galeón Andalucía is a replica of the ship used by the Spanish during the XVI to XVIII centuries, in the maritime expeditions of discovery and inter-oceanic trade between Spain, America and the Philippines of the so-called fleets of the Indies.
The visit to the Galleon consists of a self-guided walking tour. Once on board, you are free to wander its decks, talk to the actual crew members (real sailors living on board), and contemplate dozens of interactive exhibits, videos, projections and historical documents.
Tickets cost £12 for adults, £6 for children aged five to 10 years and £30 for a family ticket of up to two adults and three children aged between five and 10. Tickets can be purchased from the Galeón Andalucía website.
