Novak Djokovic may have had his last chance of clinching major title number 25, but there is another record he might have his eyes on going forward.
After coming through his quarter of the draw at the US Open, Djokovic lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals, marking yet another final-four defeat at a Grand Slam in 2025.
The Serb has reached the penultimate stage at all four major events this year, but has been unable to advance to the final.
While his run at Flushing Meadows could have been his last best shot at the feat, Djokovic can still become the all-time leader in ATP Titles.
With 100 tour-level crowns to his name currently, he needs just 10 more to surpass Jimmy Connors‘ tally of 109, which former American tennis star Sam Querrey thinks he could easily manage.

Speaking on the ‘Nothing Major’ podcast, Querrey said of the record: “I don’t think it’s important to him based on what his calendar was this year. The last three tournaments he played were Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open.
“If Novak wanted to surpass those guys, he could. He could load up with 250s and win them.
“We saw this year he made the semifinals of all four majors, so in major tournaments he’s the third-best player in the world.
“And what’s he ranked right now—seven? I think he’s generally looked at as the third-best player in the world right now.
“He could go sign up for a handful of 250s this year and probably win ten of them. So for that reason alone, I don’t think those numbers—surpassing Fed and Jimmy Connors—are important to him at all.”
Novak Djokovic’s titles and finals over the past two seasons
In the last two seasons, Djokovic has reached five finals, emerging victorious in just two of them.
He made it to the Wimbledon final in 2024, where he fell to Alcaraz once again, but later that summer, the 24-time major champion beat the Spaniard in the gold medal match at the Paris Olympics.
Djokovic’s last final that year was at the Shanghai Masters, in which he suffered defeat to Jannik Sinner.
This season, the legend has made the championship match at just two events, finishing as the runner-up at the Miami Open and securing his 100th title at the Geneva Open.
