A bear entered a nursing home in northeastern Japan Saturday after breaking through a window.
The animal fled without injuring residents or staff at the facility in Aizu Town, Fukushima Prefecture.
Police say the one-meter-long bear entered right after being spotted by a staff member at about 6:30 a.m.
Staff members fled to a nearby room and called on the six residents of the home to lock their doors.
When police arrived, the bear had gone, apparently having escaped by breaking through glass in the front door.
Police are warning people in the area to be cautious of bears. The town has set off fireworks and placed traps in the area.
Bear sightings have risen to a record in Fukushima Prefecture, prompting the prefectural government to issue a warning against Asian black bears for the Nakadori and Aizu regions on Thursday.
