A TEENAGER from Eastville has been charged with attempted murder after a “serious assault” in Easton last week.
Mohammed Akakhail, aged 19, of Shamrock Road, made a first appearance before Bristol Magistrates Court yesterday.
He also faces a charge of possession of a bladed article.
A 20-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder but has been released on conditional police bail while the police investigation continues.
A 41-year-old man who was also arrested following the incident has been released with no further action.
The incident was reported to emergency services at about 2.40pm on Friday, and police kept part of Stapleton Road cordoned off that night while they carried out forensic investigations.
The victim remained in hospital yesterday, although police said his injuries were no longer believed to be life-threatening.
Neighbourhood Chief Inspector Serena Serjeant said: “This is a significant update in our investigation and we’ve updated the victim’s family on this development.
“We’re incredibly grateful to those people who’ve contacted us with information which has been vital in helping us understand the circumstances of Friday’s incident.
