This is Burnley manager Parker’s first Premier League match against Liverpool since losing 9-0 with Bournemouth back in August 2022. Slot has named an unchanged line-up from the Arsenal game, with Szoboszlai continuing at right-back. Frimpong returns from injury and is among the substitutes. Isak is the player on everybody’s lips, but the British transfer record signing is not in the Liverpool squad as he makes his way back to full fitness. In an attempt to force a move away from Newcastle, the striker endured a heavily disrupted pre-season and only registered his first minutes of the campaign in the recent international break, coming on as a second-half substitute in Sweden’s 2-0 loss to Kosovo. Therefore, Ekitike continues to lead the line for Liverpool. Before the game, Slot confirmed that midfielder Curtis Jones won’t feature after sustaining a groin problem in the previous clash with Arsenal.

Parker has decided to make two changes to the Burnley side who suffered that gut-wrenching loss to Manchester United. Laurent and Tchaouna come in for Jacob Bruun Larsen and Mejbri. Striker Broja was recruited from Chelsea in the summer, and the 24-year-old is in the Burnley matchday squad for the first time in the top-flight, taking a place on the bench. The likes of Walker, Esteve, Ugochukwu, and Anthony all start for Burnley. Captain Cullen, who unfortunately scored an own goal in the Old Trafford defeat, begins in midfield.
