William Chalmers Ferris passed away in custody at the East Dunbartonshire nick on September 11, 2025.
Following the 75-year-old’s death, SPS said Police Scotland has been advised and the matter has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
A Fatal Accident Inquiry will be held in due course.

An SPS spokesperson said: “William Chalmers Ferris, 75, a prisoner at HMP Low Moss, has died on September 11, 2025.
“With each death in custody, Police Scotland is advised and the matter reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
“Fatal Accident Inquiries are held in due course.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.10pm on Thursday, September 11, 2025, we received a report of the death of a 75-year-old man in the Stobhill area of Glasgow.
“There are no suspicious circumstances, and a report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
