A flurry of late tries resulted in Brian Noble’s side snatching victory to see them end the season on a high.

The result means that Bradford will now go on to face Fev in a play-off showdown next weekend; defeat for Rovers resulting in them dropping to 6th in the league standings after Halifax won at Doncaster this afternoon.

With one eye on the play-offs, head coach Brian Noble opted to ring the changes, giving chances to a number of players who have found themselves on the fringes of the squad in recent weeks.

After being completely left out of Bradford’s trip to London last weekend, Kieran Gill returned to the fold, starting on the left wing.

James Meadows, Bayley Liu, Eliot Peposhi and Sam Hallas were also thrown in from the get-go, while Jamie Gill was handed his first team debut from the interchange bench.

Notable exclusions from the squad included Jordan Lilley (back), Matty Gee (arm) and Guy Armitage, the former two being for precautionary reasons, while the latter was rested.

The ever-present Waqa Blake started on the interchange bench too.

Both sets of players were welcomed with fireworks and pyrotechnics upon entering the field, but that’s as exciting as it got in the first half.

The fixture certainly had an end of season feel to it, both teams knowing that their respective places in the league table had virtually been secured already.

Furthermore, the wind and rain proved problematic in either side being able to show their worth in attack.

There wasn’t much quality on show, particularly prior to the break, a tale of two penalties being the main talking points ahead of the half-time hooter.

The first arrived in the 16th minute, Hallas being penalised for a ‘charge down’ which he jumped on after the ball came loose.

Danny Addy duly accepted the invitation to put his side into the lead, placing his penalty over the posts from a relatively central position.

The home supporters displayed their frustration with the referee throughout the opening 40 minutes, but they would find their team on the right side of a decision just before the break.

Joe Keyes was wiped out off the ball by a Featherstone man, and Luke Hooley stepped up to draw his side level from 40-metres out.

In a similar position to the one that he placed wide in the dying embers at home to Toulouse, you’d have been forgiven for thinking that it was playing on his mind.

However, Bradford’s fullback remained composed and coolly slotted his latest attempt over the posts to bring the Bulls level at 2-2 on the hooter.

The game remained fairly scrappy after the interval, but a moment of quality from the visitors resulted in them taking the lead.

A neat attack was worked to the left wing, where Connor Barley was waiting to touch down in the corner.

Addy converted the try superbly, adding the extras from the touchline to give his side an 8-2 lead.

However, Bradford responded well and scored three late tries to eventually take the game away from the visitors.

The levelling score arrived in the 71st minute, after a moment of magic from Keyes.

In trademark fashion, Bulls’ No7 sliced through Featherstone’s backline after throwing a brilliant dummy to score to the left of the posts.

Hooley added the extras to make it 8-8.

Bulls weren’t done just yet, however, as they scored another two tries in the closing moments.

Tom Holmes was next over for the hosts after a well-worked move.

Ebon Scurr powered his way forward before offloading the ball to Mitch Souter, who played a delightful pass to Holmes. He made no mistake in finishing off the attack.

Once more, the conversion was good, and Bradford had a 14-8 lead heading into the final five minutes of the fixture.

The hosts increased their advantage shortly after, Hooley slotting a penalty over from 30-metres out.

There was still time for Bradford to score one more try, and their final effort was the pick of the bunch.

The ball was moved swiftly out wide to Gill, who completed the scoring with a well taken try in the corner.

Meadows, on this occasion, added the extras to give Bulls a 22-8 victory.

So, a winning ending to the regular season for Bulls who now go on to face Featherstone on Friday night in a play-off eliminator.
