She added: “We want all of our performances, from star soloists to our world-class orchestra, to feel wide open to everyone.”

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the Art Deco Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and hear music performed from its stage.

Included among the planned performances will be two organ recitals by city organist Ian Tracey, a sing-along session with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir and a set from the winner of Channel 4’s The Piano joined by members of Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Company.

Over in the Music Room, artists will perform music from across the city and around the globe ranging from Latin American rhythms to stars of Africa Oyé.
