Michelle Keegan has declared a moment of ‘madness’ after seeing a move by her home city before the end of an era.

The actress will soon be seen reprising her role of Erin Croft in Sky Comedy hit, Brassic, for the final time after it was confirmed that the seventh series would be the last.

The Stockport-born actress has been a part of the show, which follows a group of cash-strapped working-class friends living in the fictional village of Hawley, since the very beginning .

Joseph ‘Joe’ Gilgun, known for Preacher and Misfits, stars in the show as lead character Vinnie, which he also co-created with Shameless writer Danny Brocklehurst.

But the popular show’s creators confirmed in January that they wanted to “stop while we are still riding high” and that the series’s most recent filming would be the last.

Now, Michelle has revealed that her home city has got behind her as she shared a picture of a Brassic mural that appeared close to Manchester City’s home, the Etihad Stadium.

Alongside the epic display, the former Coronation Street star told her millions of Instagram followers: “We’re painted on a wall outside the Etihad stadium. Madness [crying laughing emoji].”

It comes after Michelle confirmed that the release of the final series is just days away. On Sky’s official Instagram, a teaser snap was shared ahead of the finale with the caption: “Back with a BANG. The farewell series of #Brassic starts 25 September, with new episodes dropping weekly.”

Michelle was quick to reshare the post, with the Stockport-born star simply writing on her Instagram Story to her millions of followers: “The gang is back!”

It was in May that Michelle confirmed that her time playing Erin has come to an end, after she was seen back on the set of Brassic with her husband Mark Wright and their daughter, Palma, just a couple of months after her birth.

Taking to Instagram, the mum-of-one shared a number of pictures from on and off screen in which she could be seen with her castmates and the show’s crew.

Alongside the post, the new mum shared: “Goodbye Erin [crying emoji]… So finally the Brassic journey has come to an end (feels so strange saying that) and what an unbelievable 7 years it’s been. I feel so privileged to have been a small part of such a mighty show.

“From the moment I read the 1st script I knew this job was going to be special & it definitely was. Thank you to everyone who worked on the show over the years for the laughs, friendship and more importantly the memories… What a magical 7 years we had.”
