Two arrests have been made

Police chased down and arrested two men after reports of ‘males brandishing knives’ in the Northern Quarter on Sunday night.
One was found after the chase sat on a park bench ‘recovering from his run’, Greater Manchester Police said.
A kitchen knife was recovered during the incident. There were no reports of any injuries.
In a statement, GMP said officers were on the scene within just three minutes. It’s understood armed officers and police dogs were also involved.

In a statement posted to Facebook, GMP City centre said: “To the two males who ran away from us last night: Nice try, you ran but you couldn’t hide!
“We received reports of two males brandishing knives in the Northern Quarter. Within three minutes patrols had landed and were chasing both suspects.
“One suspect was detained after a short foot chase, a kitchen knife was recovered on him.
“Another managed to slip away from an officer, ditching a knife⦠Only to be found several minutes later sat recovering on a park bench from his run! Both are enjoying their stay in hotel GMP as we write this.”

Both remain in police custody.
The statement added: “We’ll continue relentlessly in our pursuits to stamp out serious violence across Greater Manchester.
“Local officers are passionate about knowing their areas, tonight was an example of good old fashioned policing between colleagues from Response, Neighbourhood, Firearms and the Dog Unit.” No ages for the suspects have been released.
No further information has been provided.
