Next Level has won best gym in the UK at the British Fitness Awards
Next Level gym in Bootle
The best gym in the UK has been named and it’s in Merseyside. Next Level Gym, located on Dunnings Bridge Road in Bootle, took home one of the biggest accolades at the British Fitness Awards 2025 after being crowned Best Gym UK. The gym was previously named Best Newcomer at the same awards in 2024.
Gym owner Hannah Lavery, 34, from Formby became a personal trainer around five years ago and opened Next Level in February 2023 after “saving really hard, and working every hour God sent”. She said the gym is “growing strength, by strength”.
When asked what she thinks makes the gym stand out among the rest, Hannah told the ECHO: “I think the speed that we’ve grown and how fast our community has grown. It’s not all about winning awards, we’ve done a lot for charity.
“People have come from all over just to do our classes and I think people can see that and what it’s about.
“I think that is why we’ve stood out – we’re genuine, we’re real and all the girls and lads who coach share the same principle that you treat every client as your own, whether they are yours or not, look after everyone, make sure everyone is happy and check in on people.
“I think in this industry if you don’t actually care about people and care about what you are doing it’ll show through. We really, really care about the people inside the gym.”

The gym is for all ages, working with children through their kids classes and clients in their 70s. Hannah has 12 coaches, who work with male and female clients.
Hannah added: “I am open with everyone and I think they find it quite a safe space to be in.
“When we first opened, I said to everyone this is the place to come exercise but this is also a space where people can come to feel okay.
“Just be themselves, and know that there’s no pressure to be anything that you’re not.
“Just be yourself and know that you’ve got good support around you.
“That’s how it has grown really. I’ve never had any problems in the gym. It’s just a really nice place to be all the time.”
