There has been a lot going on at Celtic during the international break.

Celtic’s win at Kilmarnock was the perfect way to cap off a lot of the negativity surrounding the club over the last two weeks.

From Celtic ‘insiders’ trashing Rodgers to all the chat surrounding the Hoops supporters’ protest against the board, it’s fair to say Parkhead has not been a happy place over the last fortnight or so.

And when Brendan Rodgers was asked all about that on BBC Radio Scotland, the Celtic manager gave a class response as he rebuffed the question.

The Celtic manager was delighted with the late win at Kilmarnock and was asked his thoughts about the ‘noise’ surrounding the club.

Rodgers told BBC Radio Scotland [24m 53s], “Just delighted for the team, because there’s been so much noise around the last couple of weeks. But to get out there, get playing and win was really pleasing.

“Well, it always is [the win being a release]. Football is what we’re here for. I’m not a politician. I’m anything but that.

“I’m a football manager. And of course, it’s always a test with everything that goes on.

“And that’s what big clubs are about. There’s a lot that goes on within them, but ultimately it’s about what you do on the pitch.”

The player who impressed the Celtic manager vs Kilmarnock

The best way to address turmoil at the club is to keep winning on the pitch and the late goal impressed Rodgers, Chris Sutton and the Celtic support.

Speaking about the player’s performance, Sutton picked out his star Celtic performer as he sang the praises of Sebastian Tounekti.

Sutton said, “What a start to his Celtic career by Kelechi Iheanacho. Cool penalty to win it in injury time.

“Tounekti excellent and begs the question what if he’d have been signed pre-Champions League… Kilmarnock brave display.

“Stunning header from Watson to level it. Celtic back top.”

With Partick Thistle up next in the Premier Sports Cup, fans will be hoping that the unbeaten domestic run will continue this week.
