On Monday, Prince Harry celebrated his 41st birthday and a former royal employee reckons King Charles likely sent his youngest son a private message.
Harry’s doting wife, Meghan Markle, marked the occasion with a cute throwback photo of the birthday boy on her Instagram.
“Oh hi, Birthday Boy,” she captioned the snap of a much younger Prince Harry, with a full head of hair, in Air Force uniform.
Meanwhile, there was a noticeable silence from the rest of the royal family on social media, despite Harry’s recent reunion with his father King Charles. But were messages exchanged privately instead?

Royal family silent on Duke of Sussex’s birthday
Prince Harry has just returned from his trip to the UK, an action-packed four days that saw him finally reunite with the king for the first time in 19 months.
The father and son had a private tea at Clarence House, for around 55 minutes, sparking hope that they might finally be repairing their bond.
Therefore, it may have come as a surprise to many when the royal family’s social media page failed to acknowledge Harry’s big day.

Why didn’t the royal family wish Prince Harry a happy birthday?
Last year, the royal family’s official social media pages marked Prince Harry’s 40th birthday. But this year, there were no public messages.
One possible explanation for their silence could be that the royals are making preparations for Donald Trump’s state visit later this week.
The US President is set to arrive at Windsor Castle this very evening (September 16), and as a result, the royal socials have been abuzz with behind the scenes footage over the last few days.
It’s also worth noting that Harry’s birthday hasn’t always been a well-documented affair. Since stepping down as a senior working royal with Meghan in 2020, they’ve had a far more limited presence on the royal socials. The duke’s birthday tributes last year were the first since 2021, and were a slightly bigger deal with it being his big 4-0.

King Charles may have sent Harry ‘private birthday message’
Of course, there is always the possibility that the royal family wished Prince Harry a happy birthday in private, just not publicly.
Jack Stooks, who worked for Charles at Highgrove for over 20 years and was there whilst Princes William and Harry were growing up, gave Royal Insider his opinion.
Speaking on behalf of OLBG, Jack said: “Prince Harry has only just had a meeting with the king, so everything is still very fresh.”
I’m sure the king would have sent his son a private message for his birthday.
He went on: “I’m sure the king would have sent his son a private message for his birthday, especially after their recent meeting. As for William, we still don’t really know what’s happening there, that relationship still seems a little uncertain.”
“But I do believe the birthday message from his dad would have happened,” he maintained. “Like I said, it’s early days, and I think everyone is holding their breath, hoping that whatever was discussed in that meeting remains private. If it does, that silence itself will be a very telling sign that the healing process has genuinely begun.”
