People gathered at a vigil in Oldbury to show unity, organisers said, after reports a woman was raped in what police called a racially motivated attack.
The woman, in her 20s, reported being attacked by two men at about 08:30 BST on 9 September near Tame Road.
A man in his 30s was detained on suspicion of rape on Sunday evening and remains in custody.
Crowds gathered in the same area on Tuesday evening to show their support for the woman and discuss violence against women, organisers said.
