Pret A Manger has confirmed it will open its third Northern Ireland outlet at Belfast International Airport in the coming weeks, creating 40 jobs.

The sandwich and food-to-go specialist will open in the departures area.

It comes less than two years after Pret opened its first Northern Ireland unit next to Belfast City Hall in December 2023.

A second outlet opened at Belfast’s Grand Central Station.

Founded in London in 1986, it took Pret almost 40 years to cross the Irish Sea and establish a presence on the island of Ireland.

The group’s s longstanding franchise partner Carebrook Partnership Ltd originally announced plans to open 20 outlets across the island in 2023.

Tipperary native Gerard Loughran, who runs Carebrook with Dubliner Ray McNamara, first worked for Pret before becoming its first franchisee.

They have already opened eight outlets in the Republic.

“This new opening at Belfast International Airport is an exciting new milestone for us as we continue to grow the Pret brand in Northern Ireland,” said Mr Loughran.

The opening at Belfast International Airport follows a period of phased refurbishment across the terminal, including a new security hall, duty free and arrivals hall.

“This new store is a direct response to our passengers’ evolving preferences and a testament to our ongoing commitment to enhancing their journey.”
