Update [Wed 17th Sep 2025, 8:15am]: PS5’s new firmware update, officially codenamed 25.06-12.00.00, is rolling out now.
It may take a little time to proliferate across different regions, so don’t panic if you haven’t received access to it yet.
The update weighs in at approximately 1.3GB, but it should download and install automatically if you leave your console in Rest Mode and have all the appropriate settings enabled.
You can find out more about it in the original article embedded below.
Original Story: Sony has announced the PS5 firmware update containing DualSense controller pairing it’s been testing for the past few months will leave the beta phase and be available to everyone in a system patch tomorrow.
It sounds like you’ll need to push the PS5 patch through manually rather than it being an automatic download, as Sony details how to get the new firmware in the Settings menu. In addition, the update will contain the Power Saver mode, which scales back performance in exchange for reduced power consumption. While not confirmed, it’s rumoured this mode is being implemented now to work with the PS6 handheld device.
To activate Power Saver mode, follow these instructions once you’ve downloaded the PS5 patch:
- Go to Settings > System.
- Select Power Saving > Power Saver for Games.
- Turn on Use Power Saver and select which games you want to play using power saver.
Sony shares Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Ghost of Yotei will support the Power Saver mode in future updates.
