Victory Garden Allotments Ltd, based at Rawdon, opened their gates from 1pm to 4pm on Sunday, September 14, to offer conducted tours around the site and information boards explaining the site’s history.

Also on offer were tea, coffee and cakes and surplus vegetables for a small donation.

Secretary Phil Gomersall said: “Despite the horrendous forecast and weather, a number of people came and braved the elements including Councillors Oliver Edwards and Eleanor Thompson.

“All visitors enjoyed their visit and thought the site was lovely.

“We even had one visitor wanted to be added to our waiting list.

“Considering the rapid deterioration of the weather a good day was had by all.”
