A cult favourite on Bold Street is gearing up to give away a year’s worth of free food and “bankroll” a lucky customer. Boojum, a Mexican burrito business, opened last year in the city centre with queues stretching down the street for the launch.
The restaurant chain became a massive hit with Irish residents when it first opened in Belfast in 2007. Boojum has since expanded to around 20 sites across the UK and Ireland including Leeds, Birmingham and Nottingham.
The Liverpool opening attracted a huge crowd, largely comprised of students, who were keen to get their hands on one of the free meals back in December. A queue formed from the shopfront stretching along Bold Street with hundreds gathering to grab a burrito.
To celebrate its student following, Boojum is offering to bankroll one lucky student for an entire year. The winner will receive free Boojum food for a year and a cash deposit of £500 every month for 12 months – £6,000 in total – to spend how they please.
A weighty Boojum is capable of sitting upright with no support
The competition is open to all Liverpool students to mark the start of Freshers. David Maxwell, CEO of Boojum, said: “University life is tough on the wallet and students have always been at the heart of Boojum.
“We wanted to do something meaningful to support them this year and Bankrolled by Boojum is the result. £500 a month plus free burritos for 12 months will set the lucky winner up for an unforgettable year, with Boojum fuel to keep them going.”
Boojum will also be randomly selecting a winner every day of Freshers to win a £50 gift card. Students need to have a Boojum app account and they’ll be automatically entered. A
