The shearling ram was the male champion at the Royal Welsh show this year and breed champion at the Spring Festival at the start of the show season and is sired by a previous record price ram lamb from 2023.
After competitive bidding he was knocked down to I Bowen and family, Kidderminster, Worcestershire.
Vicky Crew, Boreland, Lockerbie, achieved 2,800gns for a Torddu shearling ram making her long journey worthwhile. This one headed home with Catrin Price, Llanddeusant, Carmarthenshire.
At 2,200gns was an aged Torddu ram from the Dillon family, Llangadog, Carmarthenshire. This one was bred by Messrs King and Jeffreys was the previous breed record holder from 2022 but was being offered for sale having coming through on his daughters. The successful purchaser on this one was C, A and R Joseph, Llanstephan, Brecon.
Also selling at 2,200gns was the first prize Torddu ram lamb on the day from previous vendor, Gareth Jones. This lamb was also by the same sire as the new record breaker and heads north with Vicky Crew.

At 2,100gns came the Torddu male champion of the day from D and A G Harries, Llanddeusant, Carmarthenshire. This one also heads north with A Clark, Ulverston, Cumbria.
Torddu females topped at 750gns twice, firstly for a shearling ewe from Messrs King and Jeffreys, Mynyddcerrig, Llanelli. Unshown on the day with Sean Jeffreys judging, she is by the 2022 and 2023 Royal Welsh male champion and heads home with Matthew Bevan, Raglan, Usk.
The second at this price was the overall Torddu champion, a ewe lamb from C, A and R Joseph. This one was snapped up by I Bowen and family.
Another from the pen of Messrs King and Jeffreys made 700gns and now resides with R Ashley, Rhydcymerau, Llandeilo.
Torwen trade
Torwens topped at 1,200gns for a shearling ram from S Hermanis, Penycae, Powys. This ram was male champion at the Royal Welsh this year and also stood reserve male champion in the pre-sale show under judge Dafydd Lewis and junior judge Bethan Jones. The successful purchaser was J Jones, Bwlch, Brecon.
At 1000gns, E and J Jones, Capel Isaac, Carmarthenshire sold their Torwen ram lamb, who stood male and overall champion on the day, to A Thomas, Fishguard, Pembrokeshire.
Two further males made 800gns apiece, firstly a shearling ram from Keiran Jones, Dorstone, Hereford, and secondly from M, S and C Brown, Llanpumsaint, Carmarthenshire.
Topping the female trade for the Torwens was a ewe lamb from M, S and C Brown. Her sire was first place at the Royal Welsh this year and heads home with J A Evans, Cantref, Brecon, for 650gns.
At 520gns were two shearling ewes, first was the first ewe through the ring from Keiran Jones, which found a new home with Gareth Jones. Second was a ewe from E and J Jones, which was the pick of B Davies, Llanfynydd, Carmarthenshire.
