The Met Office have cancelled a weather warning that had initially been put in place for parts of Northern Ireland this weekend.

The yellow weather warning for rain was issued by the forecaster yesterday, September 18, and was expected to be in place across eastern regions from 12pm on Saturday, September 20, until 3am the following day.

The alert said areas of Co Antrim and Co Down could expect heavy rain which “may lead to flooding and travel disruption.” However, on Friday morning, September 19, the Met Office cancelled the yellow warning for Northern Ireland.

The forecaster said: “Whilst some showers and isolated thunderstorms are still expected on Saturday, the likelihood of disruptive rainfall has decreased.” A rain warning remains in place for other parts of the UK.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday is set to get off to a “dry and bright start” before “shower or longer spells develop through the morning, turning heavy at times.” The maximum temperature is expected to be 17 C.

It will be a cooler day on Sunday, with sunshine, scattered showers, and a northerly breeze. The new week will get off to a dry and sunny start on Monday and Tuesday, with chilly nights and a touch of frost in places.
