A cyclist has been left fighting for his life after being hit by a lorry.

Emergency services rushed to St Phillips Causeway, near the crossroads with Days Road, at around 10.45pm on Tuesday, April 22.

The cyclist, a man in his 30s, was seriously injured.

He was taken hospital with injuries believed to be life-threatening.

The road was closed through the night while Avon and Somerset Police were at the scene.

A police spokesperson said it reopened shortly before 7.30am today (Wednesday, April 23).

Officers are now appealing for information from anyone who witnessed the incident.

Avon and Somerset Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision in Bristol last night (Tuesday 22 April).

“At around 10.45pm, officers were called to St Phillips Causeway, at the crossroads with Days Road, following a collision involving a lorry and a cyclist.

“The cyclist, a man in his 30s, has been taken to hospital in serious condition, with injuries which are thought to be life-threatening.

“The road was closed while emergency services attended and conducted enquiries and reopened just before 7.30am today (Wednesday 23 April).
