Jesse Marsch’s time at Leeds United was one of many mistakes, both on the pitch and in the transfer market as well.
The majority of the signings during Jesse Marsch’s tenure did not work out. Max Wober and Brenden Aaronson remain on the books. However, if Leeds United could sell them, they probably would.
The likes of Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca, Luis Sinisterra, Georginio Rutter, and Tyler Adams have left permanently since. They are a mixed bag in terms of how they performed for Leeds.
Leeds were also mixed in terms of their results regarding selling players in that period, including members of the squad Marsch inherited at that time. The Whites could have made much more of that period in the Premier League than they did.

It was an opportunity missed and the same can be said of another sale in the summer of 2022. Leeds sold Elia Caprile to Italian side Bari for a nominal amount.
According to TransferMarkt, Caprile went for a small fee believed to be in the region of £1.5 million after failing to play once in a professional game for the West Yorkshire outfit.
After impressing at Bari, Empoli looked at Caprile after leaving Leeds, but the goalkeeper went elsewhere instead. Instead, Caprile then got a dream move to Napoli. Since then, Caprile has starred in Italian football.
He earned that move to Napoli, played under Antonio Conte, then went on loan to Empoli and Cagliari. Caprile has since joined Cagliari permanently for a £7 million fee and he continues to go from strength to strength.
MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES
Caprile has reflected on his Leeds experiences previously, which were a part to play in his development to becoming a regular in Serie A. The former Leeds Goalkeeper Caprile played heroically against AC Milan on his debut for Cagliari.
It’s fair to say that serious regret may be seeping through for the Whites after seeing what he has become. Since that game, it has even been revealed that AC Milan have an interest in Caprile. They are not the only Milan-based side with intrigue.
Calciomercato have since revealed that Serie A giants Inter Milan like Illan Meslier. Per that same report, Giuseppe Marotta has “a predilection for Italian players, believing it essential to have a strong national base on which to build the team.
“With this in mind, as we’ve told you, he’s monitoring the situation of Elia Caprile.”

Quoted by Italian outlet Tutto Bari, ex-Italy international Raffaele Di Gennaro was full of praise back in November 2022.
The former midfielder, who boasts Bari as well as Fiorentina and Verona on his CV, said Caprile has a limitless future following his start at Bari. It’s fair to say he has met plenty of his potential since.
Di Gennaro said of Caprile: “Usually, goalkeepers are a guarantee from 25. He is already safe, despite being in his first season in Serie B. His time at Leeds has greatly matured him. I see a limitless future for him.”
It’s likely to mean Leeds end up with egg on their face, if they haven’t already got it. Marsch and co. should hang their heads in shame when considering his trajectory to Meslier, who is similar in age.
