Firefighters were called to a blaze in Liverpool city centre this evening after a tent caught fire on Great Cross Hall Street. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) received reports of the incident at 6.09pm and arrived on scene within minutes at 6.12pm.
One fire engine was dispatched to tackle the fire. Upon arrival, crews found a single tent ablaze. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control using a hose reel jet, and the incident was resolved by 6.20pm.
Merseyside Police were also in attendance and liaised with Liverpool City Council to arrange for the area to be cleaned up.
There have been no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
A spokesperson for MFRS said: “Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) attended an incident on Great Cross Hall Street, Liverpool City Centre, on the evening of Friday 19th September.
“Crews were alerted at 18.09 and on scene at 18.12 with one fire engine attending.
“On arrival this was one tent involved in fire. Firefighters used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
“Merseyside Police also attended and contacted Liverpool City Council to arrange cleanup.
“MFRS crews left scene at 18.20.”
