A POPULAR New York-style pizza joint is set to open a new location in Glasgow after plans were given the green light.

Sear’s Pizza, well-known for selling pizza by the slice, submitted plans to open its new branch in the city centre.

The brand is inspired by similar joints in the Big Apple, and customers can buy a huge slice for just £2.

The eatery already has two other Scottish branches.

One is located on Marchmont Road in Edinburgh, and another on Chancellor Street in the west end of Glasgow.

The new Glasgow site will be its second location in the city when it opens in the near future.

Sear’s Pizza is set to take over a unit on John Street in the city centre, which was previously occupied by Metro Sandwich.

According to Glasgow Times, plans were submitted to the local authority this week.

And it has now been approved by councillors.

However, the planning decision notice states that “no signage is approved as part of this application”.

So it is currently unclear how the new venue will look.

It is also unclear when the new pizza joint is expected to open.

But when it does, it will be open five days a week, Monday to Friday, from 12pm until 9pm.

A retrospective planning application was also submitted for a hood and extractor fan, which were installed 22 years ago in 2003.

This is still pending a decision.
