The latest Birmingham City injury news as Chris Davies’ side prepare to play Stevenage in their next League One fixtureEmil Hansson of Birmingham City
Birmingham City look set to be without five players at Stevenage on Thursday unless Krystian Bielik or Emil Hansson return ahead of schedule.
Bielik and Hansson are Blues’ only short-term injuries at present and Chris Davies’ most recent update puts them in the ‘doubts’ category for this match at the very least.
Hansson is due to train this week after just over three weeks out with another injury, while Bielik’s issue is being managed by the club’s medical department.
Here is the latest on the injury front before Blues travel to Stevenage…
Krystian Bielik
Injury: Unspecified
The defender returned from injury to start at Peterborough two weeks ago but he hasn’t featured in Blues’ last three matches. Davies says Bielik has a chance of playing again this season.
“Bielik has a chance before the end of the season to get back for a few of the games, it’s just a little knock that we can’t quite get going with,” Davies said (April 17).
Emil Hansson
Injury: Unspecified
Hansson has now had three injuries in his first season at Blues. The first two kept him out for two months apiece, but Davies insists the Swede’s season isn’t over.
The Swede is due to train this week with his teammates but whether or not he will feature in either game against Stevenage or Mansfield is another matter.
Lyndon Dykes
Injury: Calf
Dykes pulled up on the run during Blues’ 0-0 draw with Reading on February 22 and hobbled off the field. The Scotland international appeared to be in a lot of discomfort and might not play again this season.
The striker has recently ditched his protective boot and seems to be making progress.
Scott Wright
Injury: Knee
Wright has undergone surgery on the knee injury he sustained at Reading and Davies has ruled him out until the latter part of 2025.
“He’s had his surgery and his early rehab has gone well,” said Davies. “I don’t know a definitive timeframe, I know he’s had that knee done before as well so I think that extends it slightly.
“These days it’s six or seven months but I think it will be a bit longer because of the background to that knee. It’s going to be right towards the end of the year I would say.”
Lee Buchanan
Injury: Knee
Buchanan suffered a serious knee injury during the draw with Blackpool and will miss the remainder of the season. Davies said: “Lee’s injury is quite severe as everyone would have guessed. He will be out for a considerable amount of time, as you probably saw from the pictures, and he won’t be with us for this season absolutely.”
The left-back is back on his feet at Blues’ training ground and in the early stages of his rehab.
