Kyogo Furuhashi’s wait for a Championship goal continued in Birmingham City’s win over SwanseaKyogo Furuhashi of Birmingham City
Chris Davies is adamant Kyogo Furuhashi will score goals in the Championship after the Birmingham City striker’s latest blunder in front of goal.
Blues’ marquee summer signing missed a gilt-edged chance before Lyndon Dykes netted a dramatic late winner against Swansea City at St Andrew’s.
Kyogo was played through on goal by fellow substitute Patrick Roberts and produced a tame finish that was palmed away by Lawrence Vigouroux.
The Japanese striker went closer to scoring with an overhead kick that Swans skipper Ben Cabango hurled his body in front of with Vigouroux beaten.
He remains goalless after six Championship games and Kyogo has wasted five big chances to open his account.
Davies is convinced Kyogo will find the net sooner rather than later.
The Blues boss said: “He gets chances, that’s what I say about Kyogo. There was another one that came back to him and he’s done an overhead kick, and it’s hit the guy in the face.
“He will score. He will score, I don’t doubt it.
“You just have to look at the stats, look at the amount of goals he scores. He does know how to score goals.
“What I love about Kyogo is whenever he is on the pitch, I’m very confident he’s going to get a chance and that’s an exciting player to have.
“I have no worries about Kyogo. I thought he injected good speed and good energy at that point.”
