New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) operator, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), in a social media platform X post on Saturday, 20 September 2025, announced that the airport may expect some disruption in flight operations after the cyberattacks impacted the European airports.
The company announced that flights headed to Europe-bound destinations to and from the Delhi Airport are likely to experience these disruptions.
“Due to cyberattacks impacting European airports, including London Heathrow, Europe-bound flights to and from Delhi Airport may experience some disruptions,” said DIAL in a social media post on X.
The airport advised its passengers to contact their respective airlines for the latest flight schedule updates.
Cyberattacks at European airports
Mint reported earlier that on Saturday, most major European airports, including London’s Heathrow, Brussels and Berlin, were affected by a cyberattack targeting check-in and boarding systems. The attack caused delays and air traffic operations out of the airport.
According to multiple agency reports, the cyberattacks did not directly hit the airports or airlines but rather a service provider for check-in and boarding systems.
A total of 29 departures and arrivals were cancelled to and from Heathrow, Berlin and Brussels airports. In total, 651 departures were scheduled from Heathrow, 228 from Brussels and 226 from Berlin on Saturday, reported the news portal AP.
Air India travel advisory
Tata Group-owned full-service airline operator, Air India, also announced that the third-party passenger system, which was disrupted on Saturday at London Heathrow Airport, is likely to cause delays in the check-in process.
The company also reiterated that Air India ground teams in London are working to minimise the issue.
“A third-party passenger system disruption at Heathrow may cause delays in the check-in process. Our ground teams in London are working to minimise inconvenience,” said Air India in its official social media post.
The airline advised its passengers to complete their web check-in before arriving at the airport to prevent any unforeseen changes.
“Passengers flying with us from London today are advised to complete their web check-in before arriving at the airport to help ensure a smooth experience,” said the company in the social media post.
