Wales has no shortage of chocolate box villages with scenic views. However, if you’re looking for a something further afield, you might like to consider a destination that’s been dubbed “the prettiest fishing village in Cornwall.” With storybook cottages and breath-taking scenery, it’s easy to understand why the village is so beloved. Cadgwith, Helston, sits on the spectacular Lizard Peninsula.
Visit Cornwall says: “You have to be adventurous to explore the eastern side of the Lizard, a maze of lanes running across Goonhilly to small coastal communities such as Porthallow, Coverack and Cadgwith.” The tourist board adds: “Cadgwith itself is one of those Cornish fishing villages famed for its looks.
“The thatched buildings nestled in the little cove have been a focus for photographers and artists for many years. The fishermen still haul their boats up the beach each evening and then retire to the pub for a pint, especially if they have had a good catch.”
TikTok user @onlythehighlights_ loved the views when they visited Cadgwith, calling it “the most picturesque fishing village in England.” The blogger said: “The prettiest fishing village in Cornwall to visit with your dog.
“On the Lizard Peninsula, this village and fishing port in Cornwall is small but perfectly picturesque. It’s the stuff of postcards – think chocolate box cottages and windy paths to reach the harbour.”
They also shared recommendations, reports the Express. The blogger said: “Stop by the Cadgwith Cove Inn – they have sea shanty nights!!! We unfortunately missed this but plan your trip around this!

“The beach (fishing cove beach) is dog friendly year round but the other side of the beach has restrictions during the summer months. There’s no parking in the village itself, you’ll have to park at the car park (Cadgwith Car Park) and walk down to the village.
“Take a walk to Devil’s Frying Pan – a spectacular coastal feature formed from the collapsed roof of a sea cave (PLEASE keep your dog on a lead). Certain parts not fully accessible.”
Commenting on the video, someone praised: “Gorgeous place have been there many times over the years,” and @onlythehighlights_ replied: “It’s so lovely!!!” Another response said “Looks like a gorgeous place,” and @onlythehighlights_ agreed: “Such a fun place to explore!!!”

The visitor said: “If you want a typical Cornish fishing village, this is it! Took me back my childhood holidays.. don’t even attempt to drive down to the bottom, just park up at the parking site, cheap enough for the day, a nice walk down to the cove between the old cottages, there’s gift, ice-cream, fishmongers (we picked up some huge tiger prawns for the BBQ), cafe and restaurant and plenty of history.”
They added: “It’s a working fishing village so you’ll see boats coming and going, being launched and pulled in up the pebbled beach, there’s cliffs and rockpools when the tide is out, and as it’s out of the way, it doesn’t get too busy but it is well worth a visit.”
Someone else wrote: “Picture perfect. Cadgwith Cove is a very pretty and unspoilt harbour with fishing boats still working off the main beach.” Meanwhile, a reviewer who loved the Cadgwith Cove Inn said: “Comfy, magical, scenic location and friendly with delicious food and drink! What more could you want?”
