Flood warnings and alerts remain in place across Greater Manchester on Sunday morning after the region was battered by hours of torrential rain on Saturday.

Flood warnings are issued by the Environment Agency when flooding is ‘expected’. Alerts are issued when the risk of an area flooding is deemed to be possible.

As of Sunday morning, nine flood warnings are in place, together with five flood alerts.

The situation, said the Environment Agency, would be monitored throughout the day although with the rain having stopped, water levels are said to be stabilising or dropping at a number of the locations.
