The installation of the first photovoltaic (PV) panels has been successfully completed at the Ketzin Solar Plant, marking a significant milestone for the joint project led by Kronos Solar – EDPR. Construction of the site began earlier this year and represents a key step toward EDPR’s broader goal of installing over 400 MWp of solar capacity in Germany by 2026.
The Ketzin development forms part of EDPR’s growing renewable energy portfolio, which currently includes more than 2 GWp of solar projects in the pipeline. The project underscores the company’s commitment to accelerating the energy transition in one of Europe’s most advanced clean energy markets.
Germany remains a global leader in renewable energy development. In 2024, the country generated 57% of its electricity from low-carbon sources—well above the global average of 41%. Solar energy alone contributed 15% to the national power mix, with continued investment aimed at reaching 75% renewable electricity generation by 2030.
Looking ahead, EDPR plans to expand further into wind energy and battery storage across the German market by the end of the decade. The company emphasized that these efforts are not only part of its global expansion strategy but also reflect a broader vision of creating a greener, more resilient energy future.
The Ketzin project serves as a symbol of this momentum, with EDPR stating:
