There should be plenty of praise given to Leeds United’s defensive solidity since promotion to the Premier League, and captain Ethan Ampadu was integral against Wolves.
Daniel Farke is no doubt delighted with how his side are faring so far in the Premier League. Five games against varied opposition leaves Leeds on seven points, most recently beating Wolves 3-1 on the road.
Such a win stamps a marker down for United to prove they have what it takes to finish 17th this season in the top flight.

Ethan Ampadu shines in brilliant Leeds United win v Wolves
Unsurprisingly so, a lot of post-match breakdown of the game has been about Leeds at last looking potent in the final third.
However, praise has to go to Daniel Farke’s defensive unit and their ability to frustrate Wolves after taking the lead in the first half.

At the heart of midfield was Ethan Ampadu, captaining the side after recovering from a previous knee injury in typically rapid fashion. Alongside star of the show Anton Stach and the energetic Sean Longstaff, Ampadu produced another display befitting of the armband.
In a game where most of the focus has gone to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Stach, and Noah Okafor, Ampadu’s ability to anchor the side once more helped platform these players to thrive in the final third.
Leeds United are absolutely laughing with £7million agreement to sign Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea
Ampadu’s imperious displays at Leeds have been so consistent ever since he joined the club. He was Farke’s first addition after taking over post-relegation, and has been a symbol of that remarkable turnaround since.
Arriving from Chelsea for a meagre £7million fee, it might have seemed a steep fee for neutrals after his track record of relegations, but he’s proven it to be a complete robbery of a signing.
Not only was he Leeds’ most consistent player in the Championship, regardless of position, but also has stepped up to the plate in the Premier League too.
As Jonny Cooper shared on X, Ampadu’s win rate of 67% is the best of any captain in Leeds’ history, and it demonstrates how integral he’s been to Leeds’ rise back into the top flight.
