Hours of torrential rain this weekend led to a slew of flood warnings and flood alerts for Greater Manchester at the beginning of this week.

The heavy rain saw one street in Salford submerged in water with vehicles stranded.

Those warnings and alerts have now been removed for the Greater Manchester region, but some remain in other parts of the country.

Today, the Met Office is forecasting a different picture for the coming days in Greater Manchester – including bright sunshine this morning (September 23).

The forecaster predicts a ‘largely dry and settled week’ after the downpours of the weekend.

The Met Office predicts a fine day today in Greater Manchester with any fog clearing quickly through the morning to leave largely sunny skies and some scattered cloud.

There may be lighter winds, and it will feel a little warmer in the sunshine. The maximum temperature is 15 °C.

The region will be staying dry through the evening and overnight with mostly clear skies, allowing some mist and fog to reform in places. It will be another chilly night with a patchy rural grass frost. The minimum temperature is 4 °C.

On Wednesday, there will be another dry and bright start with mist and fog quickly clearing through the morning, according to the Met Office.

The day will be dry with sunny intervals, and perhaps a little warmer than Tuesday, with a maximum temperature of 17 °C.

According to the Met Office’s outlook for Thursday to Saturday, the rest of the week will be settled with temperatures slowly on the rise.

It will turn a little cloudier each day, with an increasing chance of showers. Rain is arriving in the west later on Friday.
