A drone light show will be taking place again this year at the County Cricket Ground (now the Seat Unique Stadium) during the festive period. Unlike last year’s event, which saw comedian and Bristol Uni alumni Matt Lucas narrate A Christmas Carol as hundreds of drones took to the sky, this time will see the drones transform into animals of all shapes and sizes in the air.
And, while last year’s event spanned three consecutive days, 2025’s edition will be on for just one night only.
The Wild Drone Light Show, dubbed a ‘world class production’ and ‘live immersive experience’ will be stopping off at the Bristol location on December 20, after visiting Birmingham, Nottingham, and Brighton & Hove through the months of November and December. It promises a ‘breathtaking 40-minute spectacle where hundreds of drones transform the night sky’, with a ‘cinematic’ and ‘powerful soundtrack, that’s ‘perfect for all ages’.
Each location will also boast a food village and entertainment for those who arrive early. Tickets are already on sale and priced at £14 for early bird adults (18+), £9 for early bird child tickets (3-17) and concessions (including NHS, over 65s and students), and free for carers.
Celestial, who are creators of drone light shows for brands across the globe, is the world’s first entertainment studio to use drone technology to tell stories in the sky, and partnered with Yuup (the local experiences company) and the Seat Unique Stadium last year, to bring A Christmas Carol The Drone Light Show to Bristol for the very first time.
At the time, Neil Priscott, CEO of Gloucestershire CCC, said: “The reactions to the shows at the end of 2023 were unbelievable, and we’re proud to be a part of such a unique event. A Christmas Carol is going to be an incredibly special experience for everyone who gets to see it! It’s a new way for everyone to enjoy festive fun this Christmas, especially with Matt Lucas as the narrator.”
And the companies are behind this year’s production, too.
