A family-friendly pool bar and cocktail venue has shut its doors nine months after opening. Rack Em Up, located on Seel Street, was launched by couple Daniel Fox and Emma Henry, who aimed to create a warm, welcoming venue suitable for all ages.
The bar took over the basement space previously home to the ball pit cocktail bar Ball Park, officially opening on January 31. Following renovations, the space was fitted out with nine televisions, six pool tables, and several dartboards.
Guests could enjoy a virtual darts experience that allowed players to take on opponents around the world through a live digital scoring system. Rack Em Up also held an on-site kitchen offering a classic sports bar menu with pizza, burgers, chips and wings.
Rack Em Up invited all ages to enjoy the space throughout the day until 9pm. Afterwards, the venue switched to an adult-focused atmosphere open until late with cocktails and a DJ.

Emma Henry did not wish to comment on Rack Em Up‘s closure. The venue’s departure is the latest on the street after popular night life venue Peacock closed during the summer.
However it wasn’t all bad news as the venue reopened as a traditional pub concept named Crooked Crown on August 15 It came after a major refurbishment allowing the pub to expand after its owners, Pub Invest Group, bought the former solicitors’ office next door.
The venue is said to have “the look and feel of a classic pub” to reflect the changes in the city’s hospitality scene, with more people opting for venues with more of a “local vibe”, according to the team.
Hoggin’s at the Park, an open air venue on Seel Street, recently secured after opening hours to coincide with the Freshers rush. The business previously requested a licence to trade in the venue previously known as “The Park”.

In doing so, the firm hoped to vary the existing premises licence alongside the name change to Hoggin’s at the Park. The owners successfully extended the license from the midnight to 3am last week.
General manager Calum said: “We are pleased to announce we now have a later licence at Hoggins at the Park. With this now in place, we can now plan for new events and promotions at the site.”
Speaking in June, Hoggin’s officials said they felt Seel Street was “the perfect venue for us to expand the brand into the city centre”.
Manager Chloe O’Brien said: “We are excited to bring our Hoggin’s brand into the vibrant city centre of Liverpool. Since we opened the Old Swan site in 2019 it has been a very popular Irish themed site in the local area.
