SHEFFIELD’s senior side take to the track for the final time this season when Ipswich visit Owlerton on Thursday (September 25, 7.30pm).
The Tru7 Group Tigers, who were cruelly denied a place in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership Grand Final on Monday, host their compulsory final regular league fixture against the Witches.
A win would see them leapfrog their opponents and finish top of the standings post cut-off date – which would leave them wondering what could’ve been even more.
And whilst there’s nothing riding on the contest as such, team manager Simon Stead hopes to see a strong turnout from the Sheffield faithful.
“One thing is for certain, the head-to-heads between ourselves and Ipswich are always entertaining,” he said.
“They’ll want to keep in their rhythm ahead of the Grand Final at the start of October, but we’d like to round off with another win.
“The commitment from everyone at the club this year has been outstanding when you consider everything that went on at the start of the season when Woffy (Tai Woffinden) got injured.
“But this current group of lads have been a pleasure to work with and they’d love to reward the supporters for some magnificent backing by putting on one last strong showing against tough opposition.”
Nick Morris will make a late decision regarding his fitness after being forced to miss Monday’s Semi-Final leg at Leicester whilst Ipswich No.1 Emil Sayfutdinov is unable to travel due to a stomach problem – Chris Harris guests for the visitors.
Supporters who are still yet to use their re-admission ticket from the original rained off attempt on Thursday, August 28 are reminded this will be their final opportunity to do so.
In addition, anyone who purchased Issue 14 of ‘Tiger Talk’, the official racenight programme of Sheffield Speedway, from the original date is advised to bring that to the track with them to receive a free, updated insert at the programme stand upon entry – otherwise, a full original programme with insert will need to be purchased for £4, with inserts also available on their own for just £1.
Turnstiles open at 6pm with admission on the night £25 adults, £23 concessions (over 65s and students – both with evidence), £5 juniors (aged 12-17), whilst it’s just £1 for all kids aged 11 and under – season tickets ARE valid for this meeting.
Supporters are also reminded that the Carvery Restaurant, Panorama Room and Snack Bar will all be open as usual.
