Tripadvisor has unveiled the exclusive winners of its yearly Travellers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best Restaurants, honouring the top-rated eateries globally.

The accolades span eight categories: Fine Dining, Casual Dining, Date Night, Hidden Gems, Vegan and Vegetarian and Pet-Friendly, alongside a fresh category this year called One-of-a-Kind.

“From hidden local gems to one-of-a-kind destinations, Tripadvisor’s community guides travellers to restaurants that become cherished favourites or once-in-a-lifetime experiences, all backed by trusted reviews,” said Tripadvisor President Kristen Dalton.

The Scottish Daily Express has secured the complete list of all 368 winners, featuring 25 establishments in Scotland.

Leading the pack is The Witchery Restaurant in Edinburgh, claiming the top spot in the UK’s Fine Dining category whilst also securing second place in Europe and third globally.

The Witchery by the Castle, housed in a medieval building at the gates of Edinburgh Castle, has over five centuries of history.

Established by James Thomson, the restaurant takes its name from the hundreds of alleged witches executed on Castlehill during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, making the area one of Scotland’s most historically significant sites.

Additional venues making their mark in the international rankings include Edinburgh’s Makars Gourmet Mash Bar, which lands at number 15 in Casual Dining, and Locanda De Gusti, also in Edinburgh, positioned as the globe’s 20th finest ‘Hidden Gem’.

Situated in the centre of the city on the Mound, the Makars Mash provides a pleasant yet casual ambiance, breathtaking views, excellent service, and delectable, heartwarming regional cuisine.
