Since King Charles III has grown into a vocal environmentalist, former royal butler Paul Burrell claimed that His Majesty’s desire to avoid excess is a rule his staff has to follow.
“His routines have never changed,” Burrell wrote in The Royal Insider: My Life with the Queen, the King and Princess Diana. “His toothpaste is squeezed onto his toothbrush every morning, and he uses a silver key, which winds down the tube to avoid any waste.”
Despite King Charles III’s focus on preserving the environment, Paul Burrell depicted his wardrobe as extravagant.
“His pajamas are laundered or pressed every day, the drawstring tapes pressed flat like his shoelaces,” Burrell wrote.
“He, again like his father, likes his dress shoes to be ‘spit-and-polished’ to a mirror finish,” Paul Burrell noted, as Prince Philip was also known for his timeless style.
King Charles III’s preferences also apply to the royal kitchen, as Queen Camilla revealed on MasterChef Australia that garlic “is a no-no” for her husband.
