A search and rescue operation was launched in Edinburgh after a walker was injured.

Police, paramedics and Mountain Rescue teams were dispatched to Arthur’s Seat on Wednesday. The walker had fallen and injured their leg.

They were extracted from the hillside and treated with specialist equipment.

An image from the scene shows police and Mountain Rescue on the scene. The current condition of the walker is not currently known.

Police Scotland Edinburgh said: “Northeast Support Team responded to a walker who had fallen and sustained a leg injury on Arthur’s Seat, conducting a search operation to find them alongside multi-agency partners from Scottish Ambulance Service, Mountain Rescue and Holyrood Park Rangers.

“They thereafter helped with the walkers extraction from the hillside using specialist equipment, while coordinating the response.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.
