Aston Villa are already planning on making Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho a permanent signing, according to reports.
The 25-year-old winger has not been with the club a month but has clearly left a positive impression on Unai Emery and Co during his short stay following the move from Old Trafford.
Sancho has played 82 minutes across two matches for Villa after completing his switch and will hope to soon have a bigger role, having spent pre-season training separately from United’s first team squad.
The former Borussia Dortmund star joined Villa late in the transfer window after a summer of uncertainty, following Chelsea’s decision to pay a £5million penalty fee rather than make his loan permanent at the end of last season.
United would have preferred to see Sancho exit the club permanently but, despite interest from Italy, they were unable to find an option that suited both club and player.
That will have proven frustrating for United, with Sancho now in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford. The club hold an option to extend his deal by a further year, but it is almost certain not to be triggered as they attempt to offload his salary.

It appears Villa are plotting to take advantage of that situation, with manager Emery being happy with what he’s seen so far from Sancho, according to National World. The Midlands side also secured a free transfer from United this summer with Victor Lindelof arriving at Villa Park after his contract expired.
From the outset of Sancho’s move to Villa, Emery has had high expectations. The Spanish coach envisions a possible England call-up for Sancho under Thomas Tuchel – the attacker has earned just one cap since signing for United in 2021.
“Yes, of course, this is my objective, to get him back to his best – and if he does that then he’ll come back to the national team,” Emery said earlier this month.
“Every player wants to be part of the national team. When he was in Borussia Dortmund, he performed fantastic.
“And he played with the national team 25 matches, more or less. Of course, he’s still young.
“He’s still being hungry to show his capacity to play with his skills, his qualities, and hopefully we can exploit here, again, his best.”
