Three fire engines raced out to a residential street near a Stockport beauty spot after a blaze broke out.

Crews descended on Ricroft Road, near to Etherow Country Park, in Compstall, at around 8.20am this morning (September 25).

A rapid response ambulance vehicle was also seen in the area.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) says it was called out to a kitchen fire at a property on Ricroft Road.

Firefighters worked at the scene for around 90 minutes.

A GMFRS spokesperson said: “At shortly before 8.20am on Thursday (September 25) three fire engines from Marple, Offerton and Hyde fire stations were called to a fire involving the kitchen of a semi-detached house on Ricroft Road, Compstall.

“Firefighters used hose reels to extinguish the fire and make the area safe.

“Crews were in attendance for around one-and-a-half hours.”
