Birmingham police have been given new stop-and-search powers tonight after a string of serious crimes.
Offices can use Section 60 powers in parts of Washwood Heath and Ward End from 6pm today, September 25, until 4am tomorrow, Friday, September 26.
It comes after gunshots were fired at a car, on Ward End Park Road, just after 2am, on Monday, September 22.

A car also rammed into other vehicles and a property in Washwood Heath Road last Saturday.
In a post on social media, Birmingham Police said: “We will be using Section 60 powers in parts of Washwood Heath and Ward End this evening and overnight.
“The powers allow us to stop-and-search people without the need to have reasonable grounds. It follows recent serious incidents we’re investigating, including a firearms discharge in Ward End Park Road.
“Shots were fired at a car at just after 2am on Monday. No-one was hurt in the incident and enquiries are ongoing.
“A car also rammed into other vehicles and a property in Washwood Heath Road last Saturday. It’s unknown if these are connected at this stage.

“The powers will be in place in the area on the map, from 6pm today until 4am tomorrow. Section 60 powers allow us to stop and search people without the need to have reasonable grounds.
“As always, our main focus is on keeping everyone safe. We’ll continue to have an increased presence in the area to offer reassurance to the community.”
