A woman has been hit by a van along a busy road in Sheffield which has shut off part of the city centre.

Drivers and shoppers have been advised to avoid roads near Norfolk Row while officers continue to investigate the crash after a white Citroen Relay van collided with a pedestrian this morning (Wednesday, September 24).

The woman hit by the van was taken to the hospital to treat injuries deemed not life-threatening.

In a full police statement, South Yorkshire Police explained that a cordon was still in place at the site of the crash. The statement read: “At 10.02am today (Wednesday, September 24), we were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Norfolk Street, Sheffield.

“It is reported a white Citroen Relay van was involved in a collision with a pedestrian. A woman has been taken to the hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

“Emergency services are at the scene and a road closure is currently in place at the junction with Norfolk Row.”
