Ryanair will be launching direct flights from Bristol to Lapland this winter. The airline has confirmed it will operate two return flights per week on the new Bristol to Lapland route, which will start from Saturday, November 1.

Described as a “winter wonderland like no other”, Lapland, which is located in the northernmost part of Finland, is known for being home of reindeers, husky sleigh rides through snow-covered forests and the big man with a white beard. In the lead up to the festive season, families can enjoy Christmas markets and sightings of the Northern Lights while holidaying in the region. Ryanair has also confirmed they will be increasing frequencies on 11 other routes to and from Bristol during the winter season.

This will include frequent routes to winter sun hotspots such as Alicante, Madrid and Porto. The airline has also confirmed that they will increase the frequency to routes for cool city break destinations too, such as Dublin, Budapest and Krakow.

There will be a total of 28 routes, including Bristol to Rovaniemi – Lapland’s capital, included in Ryanair’s full Winter 2025 schedule. Some routes are available from as little as £29.99, which you can find out more on Ryanair’s website here.

Following the announcement on Thursday, September the 25, Bristol Airport’s commercial director Rupert Lawrie said: “We’re delighted that Ryanair has chosen Bristol for this exciting new winter service to Rovaniemi, Finland.

“This new route gives customers across the southwest the chance to step into a true winter wonderland, whether that means chasing the Northern Lights, meeting a reindeer, or simply discovering a new European destination.

“We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with Ryanair as they expand their network from Bristol.”

The news comes after TUi launched 2026 Lapland day trips.

The Search for Santa day trip will allow families to experience Lapland with the chance to meet “the real Santa Claus in his snowy homeland and be back in their own bed the same night”. The flights from Cardiff depart and return on December 11, 2026.

Starting from £750 per person, the package includes return flights with in-flight meals including a roast dinner on the flight home, a private meeting with Santa Claus and a gift for every child.
