After years of push-backs, Soho House in Manchester now has an exact opening date.

The ambitious concept was first announced four years ago and will mark the first northern location for the internationally-recognised luxury private members club brand.

Taking over the top floors of the old Granada Studios building within the St. John’s district, the venue will include a glamorous new rooftop pool, an extensive gym and a late-night bar and lounge.

Soho House first launched in a Georgian townhouse in London’s Bohemian Soho district over thirty years ago, and it now has sites across the world. London, for example, currently has 11 Soho House locations alone.

Operating on a membership basis, which costs £3,450 a year for access to 43 Soho Houses globally or £2,400 a year for Soho House Manchester only, the city centre venue will take over five floors of the former Granada Studios building, while another five floors of the vast space will become a Mollie’s Hotel, a sister venue from the operator, inspired by American motels.

The Manchester venue had originally been set to open at the end of 2022 but “unforeseen building delays” have forced bosses to push back its grand unveiling a number of times. In the last update, members were told that it had been set to open in October but this is now no longer the case.

A concrete opening date has now been unveiled with Soho House Manchester set to officially open its doors on Tuesday, 25 November. Three floors of club space, alongside the rooftop and heated pool, will all be open to members.

The Drawing Room will offer a club menu specially curated for the Manchester venue, whilst the House Kitchen will serve House Classics from morning to night, and offer brunch at the weekends.

The Pool Lounge will also offer a menu of drinks, including coffees and House Tonics. There will also be a late-night Club Bar, which will have a dedicated bar and live DJs, alongside an Orange Room that has been described as being perfect for parties and gatherings.

There will also be a specially-curated programme of events taking place for members at the Manchester venue on a regular basis. Soho House will also include 22 bedrooms on the sixth floor, ranging from Cosy rooms to Large suites, alongside an 80 sq m two-bedroom private apartment.

The interiors of Soho House Manchester will “take inspiration from the history of the Old Granada Studios and its 1950s-1960s heritage”. In addition, it will feature an eclectic collection of bespoke and vintage furniture pieces which will “reference the era of the building”.

There will also be a gym with studio space for classes, as well as a steam room and sauna that will open out onto a balcony.

Membership of Soho House is only open to “creatives” and involves filling in an application form. Under-27s members are able to pay a reduced rate to join.

Located in the St John’s neighbourhood, the area has been revitalised in recent years thanks to the arrival of the likes of Aviva Studios and the upscale Greek restaurant Fenix.
