Enfield Baptist Church will host the Meningitis Research Foundation’s first-ever Meningitis, Health and Wellbeing Day on October 4, just ahead of World Meningitis Day on October 5. The free event will bring together families, health and wellbeing advisors, and the local community to highlight the life-changing impact of meningitis.

The day will offer talks, practical advice, baby first aid demonstrations from Mini First Aid, blood pressure checks and guidance on recognising early warning signs and long-term recovery. Attendees will also hear first-hand stories from meningitis survivors, take part in wellbeing activities such as accessible exercise, crafts and creating light-up globes in recognition of World Meningitis Day and enjoy free refreshments.

Caroline Hughes, support services manager at the Meningitis Research Foundation, said: “Meningitis can strike without warning, but awareness saves lives. This event is about giving people the knowledge they need while also promoting overall health and wellbeing for the community.”

World Meningitis Day, held annually on October 5, is the largest day of collective action on meningitis globally, with campaigns calling for a future free from the disease. Tickets are available on Eventbrite or attendees can simply turn up on the day. For more information, visit meningitis.org.
