A car also rammed into other vehicles and a property in Washwood Heath Road last Saturday.

Police said it will continue to have an increased presence in the area to offer reassurance to the local community, as well as using special powers that don’t require officers to have a reason to stop and search people.

Police said in a statement: “We will continue to to use Section 60 powers in parts of Washwood Heath and Ward End this evening and overnight.

“It follows recent serious incidents we’re investigating, including a firearms discharge in Ward End Park Road.

“These powers allow us to stop and search people without the need to have reasonable grounds and will be in place from 6pm today (Friday) until 4am tomorrow (Saturday).
