The suspect is still on the run

A mum was left terrified after her and her children were reportedly threatened by a “youth with a knife” at a shopping centre in South Bristol at around 1.40pm this afternoon (Friday, September 26).

Avon and Somerset Police received a 999 call from a mum who claimed that multiple threats were made to harm her as well as her children at Broadwalk Shopping Centre, in Knowle.

The youth, who was described as a male who was riding a green motorbike, was reported to have a knife.

Firearms officers were immediately deployed to the shopping centre and were assisted by the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter.

However, the youth has not been located as of this time and officers are conducting patrols around the South Bristol area.

The youth was described as wearing a white and blue hooded top, a black balaclava and was not wearing a helmet when riding the motorbike.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward and for anyone with information on a youth matching the description provided to call police on 101, quoting reference 522527 0821.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “We have received a 999 call from a woman who claimed a youth with a knife made multiple threats to harm her and her children at Broadwalk Shopping Centre, in Knowle, Bristol at around 1.40pm today (Friday, September 26).

“Due to reports a knife is involved, firearms officers have been deployed to the scene, with support from the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter.

“The informant has described the male as a youth, wearing a white and blue hooded top, a black balaclava, who was riding a green motorbike, with no helmet.

“The suspect has not been located, but officers are carrying out patrols in the south Bristol area and following a number of lines of enquiry.

“Any witnesses to the incident, or those with dashcam or mobile phone footage of a youth on a motorbike matching the description stated, are urged to call police on 101 quoting reference number 5225270821.”

A spokesperson for NPAS said: “At 14.03hrs on Friday, September 26, a police helicopter crew from NPAS Almondsbury was deployed to the Bristol area to assist Avon and Somerset Police in the search for a stolen motorcycle.

“Total flying time on the task was 35 minutes.”
