The latest list of roadworks, road closure and events leading to road closures or diversions for traffic in Edinburgh which drivers, pedestrians, wheelchair users and cyclists can expect to encounter for the next week or so is copied below.
Some of the road closures and diversions are lengthy and others are planned to last only a day such as the closure of George Street eastbound on 5 October to allow for crane works from number 123 to Frederick Street.

But the biggest disruption this weekend is on Edinburgh Trams. Essential engineering works mean that Shandwick Place at the West End should be avoided if possible. Trams will run a split service – to and from Haymarket and to and from Picardy Place. This is for track maintenance and the Roa will be closed in both directions with traffic management at Haymarket Yards to allow the tram to turn around safely.
There are already major works to replace the combined sewer overflow at Ormidale Terrace in Murrayfield and resurfacing works.
A spokesperson for Edinburgh Trams said: “Following normal service on Friday 26 September, trams will not run between Picardy Place and Haymarket to make way for the replacement of track points at Shandwick Place.
“Tram stops at St Andrew Square, Princes Street and West End will be closed from start of service on Saturday 27 September, and will re-open for normal service on Tuesday 30 September. Services will still run on either side of the closure between Edinburgh Airport and Haymarket, and Newhaven and Picardy Place.”
There are also overnight closures on London Road city bound to allow for resurfacing works.
If you see anything on the roads which is not on the list then let the travel team know on Twitter @EdinTravel or otherwise you can check on the Scottish Roadworks register which is a comprehensive list of places to avoid.
Updated versions of the listings are posted to the website most weekday afternoons, these can be found by going to https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/edintravel
Any new works or events are marked in blue.. Read the full list below – which is arranged according to council Ward.
