Police are appealing for information in their efforts to trace a 41-year-old man reported missing from Glasgow, who may have travelled to Fort William.

Hugh McQuarrie was last seen on Garscube Road, in the North Kelvin area, at around 10am on Friday, September 26.

It is believed he made his way to Glasgow city centre, where he usually frequents, along with the Paisley area.

However, there is an unconfirmed possibility he may travel north to Fort William.

Hugh is described as 6ft 2in tall and of a heavy build, balding with brown/grey hair. He was last wearing light grey jogging bottoms and a green long-sleeved sweatshirt.

It comes after a missing hillwalker was traced in the Highlands eight days after going missing.

Iain Currie, 76, was reported missing after he failed to arrive at Inverie Bunkhouse, near Mallaig. He had set off from Glenfinnan to walk the challenging Cape Wrath Trail at around 12.45pm on Tuesday, September 16.

Although he was an experienced walker, police were concerned he may have strayed from his planned route.

The RAF, Search and Rescue Dogs Association, Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, and the HM Coastguard helicopter were all drafted in to support the search.

However, he was finally traced on Wednesday, September 24.
